The Hevdel
Humans share much with other life — yet we collaborate, learn, and pass knowledge across generations at a scale unlike any other species. That difference deserves reverence, not arrogance.
Differentialism
Hevdel (Hebrew: distinction) is a declaratively dynamic religion — principles stated openly, open to change over time. A modernist continuation for those seeking the religious and the sublime: we sanctify what sets humanity apart — intelligence, collaboration, science, and the achievements too often taken for granted. Hevdelniks look up to the men and women who transformed the human condition, leaning on each other rather than the supernatural.
A new way to link humanity — our mission and our doctrine in one place, open to revision as we learn.

Create and encourage a new appreciation of humankind — not based on our mammal nature alone, but on what makes us different from every other species.
Electricity, refrigeration, antibiotics, engines, radio, spaceflight — they arrived too late to be mythologized. Hevdel restores awe to what we built.
Allow humankind a way to progress by re-framing the achievements of modernism as religious inspiration — a mythology worthy of what we actually built.
We congregate around truth-seeking and moral progress so we do not fight each other until the end of all generations.
Like Python, Hevdel is dynamic. Principles evolve as humanity learns. Nothing is frozen by divine decree.
We can learn about emotions from animals; when it comes to intelligence, humans must assume responsibility. The one thing we forbid is praying with locked hands — getting up and doing what needs to be done, for our communities and the human race.
Being a good, honest person is intuitive. It requires no elaborate doctrine — only the will to do it together.
Not worshipped — exemplars of the human difference. Our internal canon grows over time.
